Organic Waste Diversion

The Leduc & District Regional Waste Management Commission (LDRWMC) is committed to diverting waste from the landfill. A key component is ensuring residential organics carts contain only organic material, and are not contaminated by recycling, plastics or other non-compostable waste.

Did you know?

A contaminated organics cart can contaminate an entire truckload of collected organic waste. This results in the load being landfilled, rather than repurposed into valuable compost.

Please ensure that your organics cart is clean, to help reduce costs and divert organic waste from the landfill!

Periodic organics cart inspections take place in the City of Beaumont, the Town of Devon, and the City of Leduc to support sorting compliance and education. Contaminated carts will not be collected. Residents will be informed of the specific issue with an information tag that is left on the cart.

For more information on what is acceptable in your organics cart, please see below or contact your municipality.
