Recycling is an important initiative at the Leduc & District Regional Waste Management Facility. The Facility has 8 main recycling initiatives:
The Public Drop Off (PDO) area also houses the Commissions innovative "Take it or Leave it" program. This designated area allows residents to drop off or pick up items that can still be put to use, which helps divert items from being landfilled. The designated "Take it or Leave it" area is the only area of the landfill from which materials can be taken. Scavenging in any other area of the facility is strictly prohibited.
The segregation of materials is an initiative to extend the life of the landfill. As of September 1, 2014, all kitchen waste is diverted from the landfill through the Organics Program. Residents will be directed to the Public Drop Off (PDO) area for household kitchen waste disposal.
In order to maximize our recycling efforts, residents are encouraged to sort their waste into the following categories:
Pre-sorting your material will ensure your visit to our facility is convenient and efficient.
We appreciate your assistance with diverting waste from the landfill!
A Resident Identification Card System is in effect!
The Resident Identification Card system provides residents of the member municipalities of the Leduc and District Regional Waste Management Facility (LDRWMF) with access to the landfill.
This program allows residents to utilize the landfill for free disposal of general household waste, up to an annual limit. The card program is used to identify residents and track incoming tonnage per household. Users who are unable to provide a card will be subject to the standard facility user fees.
